Advantages and Disadvantages

Webnode offers a large number of free templates to use, which was really useful.  This allowed changes to templates after the project had started.  It also allows any widget to be added to the website and supports all major widgets.  It allowed some flexibility as to where the widgets and text could be placed within pages.

Some disadvantages were that there is not an option to add alternative text to photographs in the photo gallery.  I found it difficult to add in the widgets as it kept coming up with error messages which I found frustrating.  However they did work on the live website.  I found some parts of the template pages couldn’t be edited or changed easily.

Another disadvantage was that I was unable to arrange the photo gallery into sub sections.  It means that users have to browse all photos rather than being able to select sections or sub sections of interest, for example subheadings such as flowers, landscapes and wildlife.

It would be a useful feature in navigation to have a breadcrumbs trail on the website.  This is useful for users to see where they are on the website and how they got to the page and how to go back to the previous page.

As a user of website software on a regular basis, I found this software a little ‘clunky’ and cumbersome and would favour other software over it if I was creating a website.
